Savy King was released from the hospital, grateful for life -saving help

Angel City FC defender Savy King was released from a Los Angeles Hospital on Saturday, and last Tuesday, while he continued to get rid of heart surgery on Sunday.

King collapsed on the field during a match against Utah Royals on May 9th. Doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center discovered heart abnormality and performed surgery.

20 -year -old King said on Sunday that he was grateful for life -saving assistance and has been looking forward to returning to football during the first public comments since the medical emergency.

“I still find words to express what your love and support means to me for the last few days,” King said in a statement. He said. “What I know is that I will not be able to do this without my incredible family, and for me, fans, the entire football community and here (Angel City FC), my extraordinary medical team that saves my life and continues to come back every step!

Angel City also made a statement about King’s situation on Sunday.

“We are very grateful for the medical care of the world-class providers at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by consulting with our medical staff on behalf of Angel City FC and Savy’s family.” He said. “Angel City is ready to support Savy as he continues to recover.”

The king collapsed in the 74th minute and seemed to be applying cardiopulmonary resuscitation to him on the field. He left the field with an oxygen mask on his face and was taken by ambulance.

The players from both teams gathered in a prayer circle and the match was 10 minutes late.

There was also criticism that the match continued. In contrast, the NWSL commissioner Jessica Berman said he would examine the league’s procedures.

“Our focus was really relieved to make sure that the player was looking during the game, and therefore we were very relieved that he managed the maintenance of Angel City’s medical team in a effortlessly and surprising way,” Berman said. He said. “The only thing we can do is to learn from experience and to conclude that in a future situation, we will not allow our policies and protocols to continue the game.”

King launched each of the eight matches of Angel City before her injury. He has no target or assistant and no two yellow cards.

In 2024, the expansion of the first draft selection of Mr. FC (generally second) played 18 matches and made 12 start for San Jose -based club last season. Last year he had two assists and a yellow card.

Southern California native, he played at North Carolina University before entering NWSL. In addition, the US Youth national national teams under the age of 17 and under the age of 20 took place.
