Southern California’s Pomona city La 2028 will host the jacks during the Olympics

Dubai: ICC will host the Cricket competition during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics of Southern California, Pomona.

Returning to the Olympics after 128 years, the jack, men and women’s competitions will be included in six teams and will be held in the fairgrounds in Pomona.

The city is 48 km from Los Angeles, the main place of the games.

Fair areas or Fairplex, as it is known as more popular, is a facility used for contracts and commercial, education and sports (especially motor sports) activities throughout the year. There is no jack area determined in the space.

ICC President Jay Shah, said in a statement on Tuesday night, “Los Angeles 2028, we welcome the announcement of the cricket, because our sport is an important step to prepare for the return of the Olympics.” He said.

“Although the cricket is a very popular sport, it will be a great opportunity to expand traditional boundaries when it is in the Olympics in the Olympics, which should appeal to new masses.”

Cricket, which made its only appearance in the Olympics in the Paris Games in 1900, was included in the Los Angeles Olympics program after the 141th session of the International Olympic Committee in October 2023.

Cricket participated in five new sports, including baseball/volleyball, flag football, Lakros (six) and Squash in LA28.

The T20 format, known as a tool for the growth of the game by ICC, has been involved in other multiple sports events in recent years.

The Asian Games in 2010, 2014 and 2023 included both male and female T20 competitions, and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games organized a women’s competition.
