Louisvılle, Ky. – Sovereignty took the 151st run of Kentucky Derby in Churchill Downs on Saturday and won the 1-1/4 mile race on 2:5.31 and defeated favorite journalism in stretch.
Trained by Bill Mott, the Colt left the 16th door. Citizen Bull returned to the beginning of the race while initially led to a paced tempo on the Muddy track.
The sovereignty by Junior Alvarado came out of the last round and became a neck and neck with journalism before withdrawing.
Winning is the first for Alvarado and Godolphin LLC in the classic race. After falling for the maximum security parasit, the second for Mott, who won with Country House in 2019.
