Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have been officially knocked out of the IPL 2025 playoff race after their clash against Delhi Capitals (DC) was abandoned due to rain in Hyderabad. The washout means SRH joins Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) among the teams eliminated from the competition.

SunRisers Hyderabad out of IPL 2025!

Pat Cummins’ side had a mathematical chance of making it to the top four coming into this fixture. But they needed to win all four of their remaining games to have a shot at qualification. After reducing Delhi Capitals to a modest 133 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, SRH looked poised to chase down the target and stay alive in the tournament.

However, heavy rain during the innings break meant no further play was possible, with the umpires calling off the match after a long delay. It was sad for the SRH fans as their team looked destined to win the bout vs Delhi.

The abandoned match leaves SRH on seven points from ten matches. With only three games remaining, the 2016 champions can now reach a maximum of 13 points — not enough to secure a top-four finish, especially with four teams already above that mark. It’s a disappointing end for last year’s finalists, who now find themselves out of contention well before the final week.

Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, move to 13 points and continue their push for a playoff berth.
