Pakistan rejects traveling to India for the World Cup, PCB Chief provides a sharp message

Mohsin Naqvi, President of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Saturday, announced that women’s teams will not go to India for the ICC ODI World Cup later this year and that their matches will play in a neutral place after the hybrid model accepted earlier this year. Pakistan recently hosted the ICC Champions Cup, BCCI, diplomatic tensions between the two countries and matches were held in Dubai. If one of the two countries had hosted an ICC event, an agreement was reached on a hybrid model that allowed both India and Pakistan to play in neutral places.

“Just like India has not played in Pakistan in the Champions Cup and is allowed to play in a neutral place, whatever it is, we will play whatever it is. When an agreement has to be followed,” he said.

The PCB chief said that India and ICC will decide on the neutral place if the tournament is a host.

India will host the tournament from September 29 to 26 October and defend Australia.

Naqvi also expressed his impressive satisfaction with the Pakistan women’s team entitled to the World Cup.

Pakistan won five matches in the qualifiers held in Lahore. They beat Ireland, Scotland, West Indian Islands, Thailand and Bangladesh to be eligible for the main round where India, England, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka were already qualified.

“The team showed the advantage of home and how to play like a collective unit. I’m happy that the female jack is going well now,” he said.

He added that the PCB will receive a special award for the women’s team for extraordinary performances.

Naqvi also said he was happy that the PCB hosted another ICC event after the Champions Cup.
