“This IPL” Shreyas Iyer’s strong expression in the uncertainty of IPL’s foreign players

Despite the restart, uncertainty appears on the return of all foreign players.
The IPL 2025 is set to resume on Saturday, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru facing Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The tournament was abruptly halted mid-match during the clash between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamshala on May 8, following drone attacks in nearby areas like Jammu and Pathankot, which led to a blackout. The next day, the tournament was suspended for a week. However, with a ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan, the IPL was cleared to restart on May 17.
Despite the restart, uncertainty looms over the return of all foreign players. With the World Test Championship final set to begin on June 11, featuring South Africa and Australia, several IPL players are also preparing to participate in that high-profile match, further complicating team availability.
Amidst this uncertainty, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer has delivered a firm message. In a video posted by PBKS on X, two individuals can be seen discussing the potential return of players like Josh Inglis, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Hazlewood, and Marco Jansen for the second leg of IPL 2025. Iyer then steps in and asserts, “The guys you are talking about are really talented. But you should remember this is the ‘Indian’ Premier League”.”
Meanwhile, the BCCI has issued an advisory instructing franchises to release eight WTC-bound South African players by May 26, rendering them unavailable for the playoffs. On the other hand, West Indies players have been confirmed to participate for the remainder of the tournament, which had been paused due to the India-Pakistan military conflict.
