Japanese GP: ‘Desperation’ did Jack Doohan make an expensive DRS mistake in Suzuka on Friday? | F1 News

Former F1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve, Jack Doohan’s Japanese Grand Prix in the second application caused a major accident in the Grand Prix after the “desperation” said.
Doohan, Alpine’s first practice in the home race of the reserve driver Ryakwa’yı chose to run after the Suzuka circuit in the second flying round lost control of the high -speed tour.
Initially, the Alpin car seemed to be thrown to the bottom, but the close review of the repetitions showed that the DRS on the back wing was still open.
In low fuel, 1 turn in Suzuka is usually flat for drivers not to brake. The DRS automatically closes when the driver touches the brake, so on the way to the first corner, the driver must manually turn off the DRS flab by pressing a button on the steering wheel.
Doohan did not do that, which caused him to lose the suppression force before hitting the wall and entered a big turn.
Alpine Team Manager Oliver Oakes, “We are all relieved to see that Jack was away from the incident in Free Application 2 and that we were good after the precautionary controls.” He said.
He continued: “This was a wrong decision not to close Dr. Turn to the 1st Turn. This is something to learn and Jack and the team will be ready for tomorrow. The crew will work hard to prepare the car after the damage.”
Doohan added: “First of all, I’m fine after the incident. It was a heavy thing, it was something that surprised me and I will learn from him.
“I know that the team has a lot of jobs to repair the car entering tomorrow, so thanks to them now for their efforts.
Villeneuve: Desperation caused Doohan to make mistakes
After signing Alpine Franco Colapinto, Doohan entered 2025, which led to the speculation that Argentina was listed as a reserve.
His 22 -year -old house fell from the Australian Grand Prix and finished in China in 13th week.
“The problem is probably known before the first race that he will probably not finish the season.” He said. Sky Sports F1.
“It was under great pressure. [Alpine boss] Flavio Briatore, mainly, Colapinto was waiting on the wings there and the writing was on the wall. And his driving showed helplessness, at least he has to prove that he was better. [Pierre] Gas, so they should hold it.
“Already ‘make a few races, but then you will probably be changed’ … You can see it in the driving. Not comfortable. And a driver will not be natural in this case, and in this case will not be natural and will begin to be small mistakes.”
Can the Lawson-Tsunoda swap Alpini and Doohan?
Doohan, who made a one -year agreement in Alpine, finished the second in the 2023 Formula 2 Championship before he had a full season last year.
However, when Esteban Ocon Alpini left early, he was called for Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the end of the season.
Sky Sports F1 ‘Saomi Schiff, Red Bull’s decision to change that Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda can affect Doohan.
“The weekend speech was how Liam was downloaded after two races, and I think this can sometimes inspire other teams to make difficult decisions early.” He said.
“We don’t know how many races Jack has to prove himself. [for Hirakawa] This is very important around a piece that is very technical, when you need to learn the car, learn the features around the circuit.
“I wonder why they didn’t put Pierre out of the car. He knows this piece, he knows the car, he was here a few times. It sounds very hard.”
