Venkatesh Iyer bags 17 Lakh per running in 2025

The left -handed won more than 16 lakh per jogging in IPL 2025.

Venkatesh Iyer’s torrid IPL 2025 run continued with yet another flop show. Iyer was bought for a whopping Rs 23.75 crore in the IPL auction, with KKR even appointing the left-hander as vice-captain. However, the Madhya Pradesh all-rounder has simply failed to repay that faith so far.

Venkatesh Iyer’s torrid IPL 2025 form continues

Kolkata Knight Riders broke the bank to get Venkatesh Iyer back. The all-rounder was the third-highest paid player at the IPL 2025 auction, with the franchise aiming to build their batting core around him. However, much to their disappointment, Venkatesh has simply failed to turn up in IPL 2025.

Barring a half-century against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Eden Gardens, the 30-year-old has not managed to play any knock of real substance. Overall, Venkatesh Iyer has scored 142 runs in 7 IPL innings this year. The left-hander is striking at 139.21 and averaging 20.28. He has not bowled a single delivery in the tournament, making him one dimensional at best.

He walked into bat in the DC vs KKR clash after the fall of Ajinkya Rahane’s wicket. Much left-armer Axar Patel bowling, it was Venkatesh’s match up at the Arun Jaitley. However, he miscued a wild slog, only to be caught by Vipraj Nigam at cover.

KKR’s costly mistake?

KKR opted to splurge heavily on Venkatesh Iyer, having let go of captain Shreyas Iyer. They also opted against bringing back Phil Salt or Mitchell Starc in the auction. Their decision to pay 23.75 crore for Venkatesh has simply misfired. The left-hander has earned Rs 16.72 lakh on average for every run he has scored in IPL 2025.

Venkatesh Iyer’s struggles largely outline KKR’s underpar IPL 2025. The defending champions have simply failed to turn up, losing 5 of their 9 games so far, with their clash vs PBKS being washed out.
