Take Pakistan Veto Card confirm that after the Women’s World Cup qualification, Mohsin Naqvi will not travel to India

The Fatima team under the Pakistan team was impressive because they were entitled to participate in the ICC Women’s World Cup.

A day after Pakistani team confirmed its berth in the ICC Women’s World Cup, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has made it clear, that the team won’t travel to India for the competition. Instead, as part of the agreement between India and Pakistan, now their matches will be held at a neutral venue.

Pakistan Qualify for Women’s World Cup

The Women’s ODI World Cup is set to take place in the country from Sep 29 to Oct 26, and the Pakistani team qualified after topping the qualifiers. They won five out of five, in a tournament that also included, Scotland, Ireland, West Indies and Thailand. “Just like India didn’t play in Pakistan during the Champions Trophy and were allowed to compete at a neutral venue, we will do the same. When there is an agreement, it must be honoured,” Naqvi said, as quoted by the PTI news agency.

The hybrid model was once again proposed for the Champions Trophy, where India had decided not to go to Pakistan. Instead all their matches were held in Dubai. Pakistan too, demanded that their matches be moved to a different location. Now any match between the two sides, until 2028 will be held in a neutral venue only.

Naqvi, meanwhile, also commended the team for their effort and also qualifying for the World Cup main event. “The team showed how to make the most of home advantage and play as a collective unit. I am pleased to see women’s cricket thriving,” Naqvi said.

The tournament will feature eight teams — India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa.
