MS Dhoni provided the hopeful Chennai crowd what they wanted when he walked in to bat in the CSK vs PBKS clash on Wednesday. Coming into bat at the death, the 43-year-old chipped in with a valuable cameo in his short stay at the crease. Dhoni defied his age to smash a stunning one-handed maximum off Yuzvendra Chahal.

MS Dhoni has had a good season with the bat in hand, being one of CSK’s reliable finishers down the order. In the CSK vs PBKS clash, the veteran came into bat in the 18th over after Sam Curran’s dismissal. Dhoni took off with a boundary, with a Marco Jansen bouncer getting a top edge and flying over the keeper.
He then took a single to keep strike, with Shreyas Iyer giving Yuzvendra Chahal the penultimate over. Dhoni welcomed IPL’s leading wicket taker with a stunning one handed six over long on. Chahal flighted one to the CSK captain, who obliged with a fine extension, taking his bottom hand off.
Such was the hit, the CSK crowd erupted on their feet cheering for their skipper. The six went straight into the CSK dugout, with Ravindra Jadeja cheering on after taking the catch.
Yuzvendra Chahal eventually cut short Dhoni’s stay at the crease. Dhoni tried to clear the fence once again, only to be caught by Nehal Wadhera at long off. It was the fourth instance of the PBKS spinner getting the CSK skipper out in the IPL.
