On the eve of the NBA playoffs, Los Angeles Lakers expanded the contract of Rob Pelinka’s contract just two months after the acquisition of Yıldız Luka Doncic from Dallas Mavericks.
Under the new agreement, Pelinka has now become the president of basketball operations with the title of GM. Vice President was added to the title in 2020.
The conditions of the new agreement have not been announced.
Under the direction of Pelinka, the Lakers added LeBron James as a free agent in July 2018, and since then he left Anthony Davis in a trade in July 2019. Before this season, he hired JJ Redick as a coach.

The Lakers went 50-32 in the newly completed normal season to earn playoff seeds at the Western conference. On Saturday, they open playoffs with seven best series against Minnesota Timberwolves.
Doncic, Davis and Max Christie team on February 7, an agreement was made between various other parts of the agreement. In 28 games with Los Angeles, Doncic received an average of 28.2 points with 8.1 rebounds and 7.5 assists. The team went 19-13 after the first release on February 10th.
The Lakers was only 35-47 in Pelinka’s first full season as GM in 2017-18, and then won the title of NBA in 2020 in the abbreviated Pandemik season. Los Angeles has been playoffs on four seasons since then and in 2023, the Western Conference has advanced to the finals.
