Why didn’t BCCI see Jasprit Bumrah or Kl Rahul as the next test captain of India? Agarkar explains

After Rohit Sharma retired, BCCI had potential captain changing options. Finally, they went to Shubman Gill and others.

Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Kl Rahul were four candidates to take over from Rohit Sharma as the test captain of the Indian cricket team. The Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) took a long time and long. They finally decided that Gill was the most appropriate candidate.

Pant’s assistant’s assistant was chosen. Rahul and Bumrah, the highest -level players of the four, did not take the leadership position. But what happened when the reasoning behind BCCI would not be part of the team in England, especially Rohit and Virat Kohli?

Why Bumrah & Kl Rahul was not considered

Ajit Agarkar, the president of the selections, answered the question. Bumrah was the main contestant. He was the captain in Sydney, the last test played by India. So why was Gill preferred on him? The reports claimed that BCCI was not sure that Pacer’s body would stop in 5 test matches. And Agarkar confirmed this.

“Do not think that five tests will be available for all. Whether four or three, we will see how the series is going and the workload. 3-4 Even if it is appropriate for the test, it will be an asset for us. It is happy that it is a part of the team. As a player, more important to us,” Agarkar told journalists.

The old Indian versatile, Bumrah’s concern was mentioned and not called the test captain. As for Rahul, although Agarkar said, in the absence of Rohit, he led the team in South Africa, but this time he seemed to be in the plan of nothing.

“After managing people, there is a lot of things that take out from you. We chatted with him; he knows where his body was. Kl really caught a while ago; he was a quality player and hopefully a big series. Agarkar added.
