Instead of India-Pakistan tensions, IPL 2025 qualifying in Mullanpur and security increased for Eliminator

Mullanpur Stadium is 1 IPL 2025 qualifying 1 and Eliminator is only 250 kilometers from the Pakistan border.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has reached its business end. The four remaining matches will be of the highest stake. The playoffs will commence tomorrow in Mullanpur. The PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh will host Qualifier 1 on May 29 and the Eliminator on May 30.

Security increase in Mullanpur

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Gujarat Titans have already arrived there. Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer, among other star cricketers, will be in action. About 76000 people will be in the audience, across two days. Given all of this and the close proximity to the Pakistan border, the security for these matches has been increased.

One mustn’t forget that earlier this month, India and Pakistan were at loggerheads. And there was a drone attack attempt in Chandigarh. Keeping players and the public’s safety in mind, protective measures are being taken.

“There are two very important matches at Mullanpur stadium tomorrow and the day after tomorrow. There is a qualifier and an eliminator. People are coming from all corners of India. There is a lot of enthusiasm among the people,” Arpit Shukla, Special DGP Punjab, said.

“We have arranged for extensive security around the stadium and its periphery. Today, there is a review of it. Our police force is deployed around 65 Gazetted officers and more than 2,500 are deployed. We will ensure that those who are coming do not face any kind of trouble. On the other hand, the security measures will be very strict. Yesterday, we had a rehearsal of the mock drill. Today also the police force is rehearsing the mock drill,” he added.
